August 13, 2013: Karmic Consequences

With all of the understanding we have come to embrace as adults, there are some things we simply didn’t learn in school. For example, we weren’t instructed in the art of making money, or how to deal with pushy salespeople, or at a more personal level, how to heal from emotional relationships, friendships or associations when they go awry. We have been taught that what goes around comes around but perhaps we weren’t educated on just how profoundly severe those returns can be. Perchance our lives would be much less stressful if we’d only been shown this at an early age. It sometimes seems as if life is a constant struggle to fill such gaps in our learning.

What we have been told or taught through mere experience is that life is a lot like a juggling act. It is hard to juggle one very complicated situation while doing something else surprisingly well.  Remarkably, while we feel we may not be getting what we want – we are indeed, getting what we need, which is ultimately what we want. During our “juggling acts” we should always take into account the cosmic influences we are literally throwing up into the universe. We know that everything we do has energy; be it positive or negative. Our deeds, thoughts and actions create our past, present and future, therefore, it is the karma we have created that shapes and molds how things in our life seem to unfold. Eventually, the pain or joy we have created for ourselves and those who surround us will find us again at some point.

The energy we put out is the energy we will get back. If you are hiding something now, something will be hidden from you later. No one is exempt. Most people don’t wish to recognize that Karma is serious business. No “psychic” powers are needed to understand this simple concept. Once an individual has entered into adulthood and well before the age of 18, he/she should understand that what goes up – inevitably comes back down.  For every action, there is a reaction. Contrary to popular belief, karma is not a reward or punishment. Karma is simply a matter of cause and effect; a natural law which brings into our present existence extensions or consequences of what we have thought, said, done or caused to be done in the past. Karma is a boomerang which does return to us because what we put out into the universe comes back – either in this lifetime or the next.

Karma as it relates to deception, unfairness, humiliation, or malice is just like any other form of irresponsible behavior; you must pay. Life is a lesson and these lessons teach both the supplier and the recipient. Be reasonable, fair and considerate to others and to yourself. There are no guarantees that someone else will make you happy, be honest with you or treat you with consideration and respect, however, you can take all your pennies to the bank that when you practice these habits with others, you are generating the most powerful positive presence in your own cosmic world.  With all of the unruliness and discordance we must tolerate in the world in which we exist, staying positive is not always the easiest thing to sustain but karma is where the power lies.  We get to choose how happy [or unhappy] we can be by how we treat others and what we do, because in knowing this and doing so, we are assured that good karma will be returned back to us, at some point and in some form.

If someone treats you badly or presents you with a disservice, don’t be so anxious to return the favor. You don’t have to let it get the better of you. Change your attitude even if you can’t change the situation. Be well in knowing that karma takes care of itself; what goes up must come down. Be contented on your journey ahead and above all be clear. Embrace a new perspective in August.

Love and Light for your Tuesday.
